Course Reserves

Some professors have selected textbooks and other learning materials for Menlo College courses that are made available for your use.

You'll need your Menlo ID to check out these books at the service desk. Course reserves may be borrowed for 2 hours at a time.

Search for your textbook in our course reserve catalog and learn more about course reserves with our FAQs below.

Course Reserve FAQs

What are Course Reserves?

Course Reserves are books, DVDs, and other materials used in conjunction with Menlo courses.

Where are the course reserves collections?

In the Library Building:

Course reserve materials are placed on designated shelves behind the Bowman Library Service Desk and may be requested there.

Electronic Materials on Canvas:

Instructors may place text files, PDFs of articles, chapters, bibliographies, or class notes, as well as audio or video clips, on their course Canvas pages for students' use (as allowed by copyright law). These pages are password-protected to limit access to those students enrolled in the course.

How can I tell what is on reserve for my course?

All course reserve materials held in the Library are listed and may be searched for in the Library Catalog. Course Reserves may also be searched by Course Name, Instructor Name, or Course Prefix (i.e., MGT) on this page.

Can reserve items be taken out of the Library?

Yes, but they are due in 2 hours. Please return them on time so that your classmates may also use them.

Can course reserve material be renewed?

Reserve materials may not be renewed by phone, email, or on the Web. Items not in demand by other students may be checked in and rechecked out at the Library Service Desk.

When are materials removed from Course Reserves?

Course reserves are available until the last day of final exams unless the instructor requests they be removed earlier.
