Jennifer Pesek is our new Student Success Librarian at Bowman Library. Her work focuses on helping Menlo students reach their education and career goals. She provides library instruction classes and will be collaborating with Anne Linvill to revise our Information Literacy program and digital learning services. Ms. Pesek also manages the Student Library Specialists at Bowman Library. Following a successful planning phase for developing student-led services at the library, Ms. Pesek is now implementing the new Student Led Service initiative to elevate the career-ready skills students use in library work. She has also worked on national library assessment methods and instruments, and will use those skills to help inform Menlo College and Bowman Library about our instructional and student employment efforts and their relationship with student outcomes.
Jennifer previously worked at the California Institute of Integral Studies, as part of their reference team, assisting both undergraduate and graduate students in psychology, sociology, gender studies, education, and related fields. She loves helping students on their research journeys and can’t wait to work with Menlo students.
Jennifer’s previous career was as a public interest and private attorney, working in the fields of immigration, disability rights, and small business entrepreneurship. Her aspiration is to combine the subject knowledge and service aspects of her legal career with her librarianship experience and use those skills to empower students in their educational, career and life goals. In her free time Jennifer loves board games and Taiko drumming. Every year since 2002 she has written a 50k novel for National Novel Writing Month.
